49,000 SF Metal Retrofit to TPO Roof System
For this commercial project in Waco, Texas, Clark Roofing replaced 96, 3’ft x 10’ fiberglass skylights with 24 ga galvanized metal panels, installed 1600 4’x8’x5/8” CDX plywood substrate, installed 60 MIL @mulehide TPO roof system, 1760 linear feet of TPO clad metal edge.
We also designed and installed a unique safety cable system at the rear ridge of the building to provide a safe tie-off connection for our crew.
The difficulties on this project were roof loading concerns due to weight factors. Jim Winton of Winton Engineering assisted us with calculations and engineering, high voltage power lies near the rear of the building; the eave heights were 40 ft above ground (the lowest point of the roof) the ridge was 79 ft above ground. The roof pitch (slope) was 5.5” per foot 5.5/12, which can be extremely slippery, so we incorporated the unique safety tie-off system.
The project took about eight days to roof and was under the management of Clark Roofing’s General Manager and Commercial Estimator, Mike Anderson.
This roof will provide a long-lasting, trouble-free roof and will be protected by a 20-year warranty.
